Lynchburg’s Kwiatkowski Garners Player of the Year Award

FERRUM, Va. – Lynchburg College made a clean sweep of the top honors on the 2010 VaSID College Division Women’s Soccer All-State Team.  Senior forward Betsy Kwiatkowski earned Player of the Year honors, freshman defender Tori Dott was named Rookie of the Year, and Dr. Todd Olson earned Coach of the Year.

Kwiatkowski had 15 goals and 17 assists for 47 points this year. Of her 15 goals, four were game-winners. She hails from Mount Jackson, Virginia. In addition to being the 2010 ODAC Player of the Year, Kwiatkowski is a four-time first-team All-ODAC player.

A freshman out of Sewell, New Jersey, Dott had two goals for four points. She was the 2010 ODAC Rookie of the Year and a first-team All-ODAC selection.

Olson led the Hornets to an 18-3-2 overall record, going undefeated in conference play at 10-0-1. This is his fourth consecutive VaSID Coach of the Year honor.  His team was the regular season and ODAC tournament champions, and Olson earned ODAC Coach of the Year honors.  Olson led the Hornets to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Accompanying Kwiatkowski on the All-State first team were LC teammates Brittany Klippstein, Shelley Hoath and Jackie Bader, Christopher Newport University’s Sam Ciaravino and Megan Coheeney, Virginia Wesleyan College’s Jessica Edelman and Kelly Higgins, Roanoke College’s Jessica Welfare, Averett University’s Suvi Piipponen, and Marymount University’s Paige Pierson.

Second team honorees include Lynchburg’s Dott and Jessica Gonzales, Virginia Wesleyan’s Courtney Whorten, Christina Fernandes and Brittany Moseley, Southern Virginia University’s Kendra Heim and Tamara Nagle, Ferrum College’s LaQuinta Garrett, Christopher Newport’s Emma O’Reilly and Kendall Dishaw, Washington and Lee University’s Kat Lawson, and Randolph College’s Victoria Johnson.
