William & Mary Sweeps Field Hockey Postseason Honors
Giles Named Player of the Year, Hawthorne Coach of the Year
Charlottesville, VA -- William & Mary's Kelly Giles
and Peel Hawthorne took home top honors from the Virginia Sports
Information Directors (VaSID) as the organization announced its
postseason honors for the 2004 hockey season.
Giles, who also earned CAA Player of the Year honors, was named
the Player of the Year while her head coach, Peel Hawthorne, was
named State Coach of the Year after leading the Tribe to the top
seed in the CAA Championships with a perfect conference record.

University Division Field Hockey All-State Team
Giles was joined on the team by three teammates as the Tribe
placed four players on the team to lead all schools in the
Commonwealth. Keeper Heather Kibbee was named to the team, along
with backs Anna Davis and Diana Esposito. NCAA participant and
Atlantic-10 Champion Richmond placed three players on the team,
including keeper Michelle Swartz, midfielder Allie Howard, and
forward Holly Cram.
The Virginia Cavaliers and the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs also
placed three players each on the team. ODU midfielders Caroline
Nichols and Dana Sensenig were both named to the squad as well as
back Janelle Engle. The Cavaliers were honored with forward Mia
Link, midfielder Katie Phillips, and back Katie Jo Gerfen.
James Madison's Baillie Versfeld and Lindsay Coffman were both
honored as was VCU's Carlot Verloop, the only freshman to make the
team.
