NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Chelsie Schweers, of Christopher Newport, was named Player of the Year, Jasmine Greene, of Hollins, the Rookie of the Year and Christopher Newport’s Carolyn Hunter the Coach of the Year on the annual Virginia Sports Information Director’s all-state College Division women’s basketball team announced today.

2010 VaSID College Division Women’s Basketball All-State Team

Schweers, a junior from Chesapeake, Va., led CNU to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, and a 30-1 record. She was chosen first team All-America by both the WBCA and d3hoops.com. She was the second leading scorer in the nation with a 24.5 average and led the country in three-point field goal percentage at .477. She has 1,999 career points in just her first three years.

Greene, a freshman from Hampton, Va., was the ODAC Rookie of the Year and a second team all-region choice by d3hoops.com. She set a school scoring record with 481 points (19.2 per game) and averaged 6.8 rebounds per game. She had 70 assists and 80 steals.

Hunter guided CNU to its greatest season ever with a 30-1 record, a spot in the NCAA Sweet 16 and a 30-game winning streak. All that with a team with only one senior, a reserve that scored just 20 points all year. She was the USA South Coach of the Year.
