Wansley, Macedo Top Men's Basketball All-State
Team
NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Randolph-Macon
College’s
Justin Wansley was named All-State College Division Men’s
Basketball Player of the Year and Virginia Wesleyan
College’s Dave Macedo
was named Coach of the Year, the Virginia Sports Information
Directors Association announced Wednesday.

College Division Men's Basketball All-State Team
Wansley was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s
Player of the Year, was also the NABC’s South District Player
of the Year, First Team All-America, First Team All-South and
a Third Team All-America by D3hoops.com, scored in double
figures in 25 of 27 games, and finished with 13
double-doubles.
Macedo led the Marlins to a 24-6 overall record, also led his
squad to the 2005 ODAC Conference Tournament Championship, won
its first round home NCAA game before losing to York (PA), a
team that advanced to the Final Four.
Also earning First Team honors is Ricky Easterling. Easterling,
a Bridgewater College star, finished the year averaging 22
points and shooting 48% from the floor as a guard and 85% from
the charity stripe. He led the ODAC in scoring, was a First
Team All-ODAC selection, a First Team All-South choice by the
NABC and was a Second Team All-South selection by D3hoops.com.
Joining Easterling was VA Wesleyan’s Brandon Adair. Adair
average 18 points per game and 8 rebounds. First Team All-ODAC
choice, named the 2005 ODAC Tournament MVP, and NABC and
D3hoops.com Second Team All-South selection.
Also earning First Team accolades is Jason Sager. Sager, an
Eastern Mennonite player, finished the year averaging 20
points and 10 rebounds. Third Team All-South Region choice by
D3hoops.com, First Team All-ODAC honoree, and was second on
the ODAC in scoring.
Finally, Shenandoah’s Chris Rhone was a First Team selection.
Rhone finished the year averaging 17 points and 6 rebounds,
was a First Team All-USA South selection, second in the
conference in scoring, named to the USA South All-Tournament
Team, and was a Third Team All-South Region by D3hoops.com
All-State teams are selected by active members of the Virginia Sports Information Directors
