HSC’s Jett, RC’s Pilat Headline All-State Men’s Lacrosse College Team

SALEM, VA – Hampden-Sydney senior midfielder, Kyle Jett, has been selected as the 2010 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Men’s Lacrosse College Division Player of the Year and Roanoke field general, Bill Pilat, was named the state coach of the year.

A two-time All-American, Jett capped his career with an ODAC best 68 points for the Tigers this season.  He scored 39 goals, which tied for fourth in the conference, and had the second most assists in the league with 29.  He also led the league in man-up goals with 12.  He was named First Team All-ODAC for the second consecutive year, and was also named Academic All-District, ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar Athlete of the Year, and ODAC Player of the Year.

Pilat earns VaSID Coach of the Year honors after he was named the ODAC Coach of the Year for the ninth time in his career earlier this season.  The Maroons finished 18-3 on the season, breaking their own school and ODAC record from a year ago. Roanoke captured the ODAC championship, finished with a No. 5 National ranking and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the 19^th time in program-history.

Lynchburg’s Max Voumard, a midfielder, was named the VaSID Rookie of the Year following a freshman campaign which saw him  tally 20 goals and seven assists for the year, including  a four-game stretch in midseason where he posted nine goals, all against conference foes.

VaSID was formed in 1983, and is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of Virginia.
