In addition, teammate Ragini Acharya (Pulaski, Va.) earned
Rookie of the Year honors, while Tribe Head Coach Kevin
Epley was named Coach of the Year.
Moulton-Levy enjoyed a spectacular 2007 season, forging a
30-7 singles record and a 45-5 doubles mark that earned her
All-America honors in both disciplines. Moulton-Levy, the
Colonial Athletic Association’s three-time Player of the
Year, qualified for the NCAA Singles Tournament, where she
reached the Round of 32. Her efforts garnered the No. 12
ranking in the final ITA Singles Poll.
Additionally, Moulton-Levy received the National ITA Arthur
Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award for the second
consecutive season, becoming the first female athlete to
accomplish the feat.
Moulton-Levy was also named first team doubles with teammate
Katarina Zoricic (Etobicoke, Ontario) after assembling a
spectacular campaign that included the No. 2 final ranking
from the ITA. In addition to a school-record 44-4 record as
a pair, Moulton-Levy and Zoricic finished second at the NCAA
Doubles Championships and won the ITA National Indoor
Doubles Championship in November.
Moulton-Levy, Zoricic and Acharya all earned VaSID First
Team Singles status. Tribe sophomore Klaudyna Kasztelaniec
(Krakow, Poland) received a second team citation.
Bolstered by the play of Moulton-Levy and company, Epley led
the Tribe to one of the finest seasons in the school’s
storied history. William & Mary finished the year 22-3 after
reaching the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time since 2003.
The Tribe, ranked as high as No. 9 during the season,
finished the year 15th. Epley, named CAA Coach of the Year
for the third time in his four seasons, also steered the
Green and Gold to its 19th CAA Championship in the 23 years
since the league’s inception.
Acharya burst onto the scene with a 32-5 singles mark, as
well as a 25-9 doubles campaign. Her 32 wins rank third on
the Tribe’s all-time freshman list, and her .865 singles
winning percentage was the highest for a freshman in school
history. Acharya, named CAA Rookie of the Year, also won a
school-record 27 straight singles matches during the season.
Rounding out first team were Richmond sophomore Pamela Duran
(Guayaquil, Equador), the Atlantic 10’s Most Outstanding
Performer, as well as the Virginia Commonwealth University
duo of junior Tatsiana Uvarova (Minsk, Belarus), the ITA’s
39th-ranked single, and senior Marianna Yuferova (St.
Petersburg, Russia), who was 18-10 this season.
Yuferova and senior Olga Borisova (Minsk, Belarus), as well
as the Old Dominion tandem of Charleen Haarhoff (Durban,
South Africa) and Fernanda Luiz (Nova Lima,Brazil) rounded
out first team doubles selections.
