180 Student-Athletes Named Academic
All-State
NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – The 2011 Virginia Sports Information
Directors Association Academic All-State team was released
on Friday with 31 schools and 186 student-athletes being
honored for their academic performance this past school
year.
Each school was allowed
to nominate six deserving student-athletes who were at least
a sophomore and had a minimum of a 3.2
grade point average for the honor. The team includes all
levels of college athletics in Virginia.
VaSID was
formed in 1983, and is comprised of sports information
professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and
independent institutions from the state of Virginia. The
purpose of the organization is to promote college athletics
at all four-year institutions.
