Dan received B.S. degrees in both Physics and Mathematics from the University of Akron in 1998. He continued on to graduate school at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN where he received his M.S. in Physics in 2001 followed by his Ph.D. in Mathematical Physics in the Spring of 2005. His Ph.D. dissertation was entitled "Euclideanization of Maxwell-Higgs-Chern-Simons Theory," but he prefers that you don't ask him about it.... He began teaching physics, math, and assorted other NSMish things in the Fall of 2005. His current interests include physics, math, and general science education; critical thinking and the fostering thereof; energy and energy conservation; and the application of techniques from the physical sciences to understanding everything he can. He is Associate Professor of Physics at Ferrum College and finds writing about himself in the third person extremely disconcerting.
